📊 Data Interpretation Adventure! 📈

Section 1: Interpreting Data in Tables

🌟 Introduction

Welcome, math explorers! By studying this lesson, you will be able to interpret the data represented in picture graphs and tables.

📚 Theory

Drawing various information from the data represented in picture graphs and tables is known as data interpretation. When data are given numerically in a table, data interpretation can be done in terms of these numbers. We can find totals, differences, and trends just by looking closely!

💡 Example: Fruit Juice Sales

Let's look at the sales of 175 ml bottles of fruit juice marketed by a company during the first five months of the year 2014:

Month Number of Bottles
January30,000
February32,100
March31,500
April34,800
May33,000

Section 2: Interpreting Data in Picture Graphs

🌟 Introduction

Sometimes numbers are turned into pictures to make them easier and more fun to read! When the data are represented by picture graphs, data interpretation corresponding to the comparison of data can be done more conveniently.

📚 Theory

In a picture graph, a specific symbol is used to represent a certain number of items. Always check the key! For example, if one star ⭐ means 5 days, then two stars ⭐⭐ means 10 days!

💡 Example: Vehicles on the Highway

The data on the vehicles that joined a highway during a certain hour through a certain entry point is represented below:

Key: 🚙 (1 symbol) = 10 vehicles

Cars: 🚙 🚙 🚙 🚙 🚗 (4.5 symbols) = 45 Cars

Buses: 🚙 🚗 (1.5 symbols) = 15 Buses

Vans: 🚙 🚙 🚗 (2.5 symbols) = 25 Vans

Jeeps: 🚗 (0.5 symbol) = 5 Jeeps

Lorries: 🚙 🚙 (2 symbols) = 20 Lorries

What can we interpret?
